Bishop of Monmouth's Visit

The Bishop of Monmouth, Bishop Dominic visited South Africa briefly early in May. He was here to attend the consecration of the dean of Newport Cathedral. Dean Richard Fenwick, who has been Warden of the Guild of Church Musicians for many years. Dean Richard was consecrated as Bishop of St Helena in George on the 7th May.
Pictured here is Bishop Richard with his wife, Jane, and the crozier given to him by the people of the Diocese of Monmouth. The gift of a cross from the Guild of Church Musicians is hidden by his arm holding the crozier.

On the following day, 8th May, Bishop Dominic was president and preacher at the Eucharist at St Dunstan's Cathedral, Benoni and admitted Daphne Allison as a member of the Order of St Woolos in recognition of her amazing work in fostering the diocesan link between the Diocese of the Highveld and the Diocese of Monmouth. Daphne is, of course, also the Secretary of the RSCMSA.

Anglican Church Music Web Site

The Archbishop's office has sent us the following link http://www.churchmusic.org.uk/ which is a site for Anglican Church Music. This site aims to be a central source of information for Anglican and Episcopal church and cathedral music, with resources for church musicians, singers, congregation members, or anyone around the Anglican Communion who enjoys this kind of music. Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland, USA and many more Provinces are included.

RSCM 2015 — A South African Strategy for growth

Within the beautiful setting of Bishopscourt Cape Town and in the presence of His Grace the Archbishop of Cape Town, an august gathering of interdenominational church leaders, choir directors and interest groups met to discuss “RSCM 2015” - A South African Strategy for growth, mission and furthering the work of the RSCM. A day of high energy and wonderful strategic contributions was the end result. The influence of the RSCM in South Africa was affirmed in the five key areas of education, publishing, developing alliances, marketing as well as a focus on attracting and developing organists. All of these were combined into a working plan for the future.

The astounding diversity of the group was united in a strong bond of unity of purpose; truly a reflection of the spirit of the “new” South Africa. A way forward has been chartered and new areas of growth identified. The strengthening of partnerships and friendships made will continue as a result of this excellent meeting.
